Aliquim Sings about, "How she will Worship The Lord"

Aliquim discovered her talent in music at an early age when she sang in family events with her sisters. Her passion for music burnt on in her heart through high school as she would take opportunities to sing together with those who were musically inclined. Her professional journey as an artist began when she participated at a talent search dubbed, Kipawa Talent Search organized by Hope FM, in the year 2003. She was part of the 13 finalists who compiled an album “Kipawa”. She later recorded her first song “Nitajikaza”, with Kijiji Records in the same year.

In 2005, producer Gideon Kimanzi of Gydkym Music incorporated Aliquim into The Community of Praisers, a group of new talented music artists who were popular for the song “Uhimidiwe”. In the same year, Aliquim released a single track titled “I Will Worship”. This marked the beginning of the journey for her 12-track album Fananawe (ALTERNATIVE PRAISE ), which was
released in February 2011.

Fanna Nawe means I will worship you Lord:

To translate the Hook of the song in praises as followed:

Nataka kufanana nawe eh bwana.
(I want to be like You oh Lord).
Nikujue unavyonifahamu Baba.
(To know you like you know me Father).
Siku zote nipate tembea na wewe.
(To get to walk with you all my days).
Ombi langu nikujue.
(My prayer is to know You).
Sala yangu, tuwe kitu kimoja.
(My prayer for us to be as one).

This album, that took her four years to complete, is a fusion of different genres of music which are a reflection of the many lessons she continues to learn as she grows in her career and faith. In her words, “There is a beautiful exchange you experience as you praise God”. Presently she
works with her husband at Gydkym Music and serves faithfully as one of the praise leaders at the church where she fellowships.
