Tim Tebow a fervent Christian would include the Bible verse John 3:16 or a chosen scripture in the eye black just below his eyes before stepping out onto the field before each game. Tebow as college quarterback was once arguably known as having one of the best “college careers” as a quarterback. While attending the University of Florida, he has matured into the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
Inscribing John 3:16 wasn’t a tradition to Tebow, but a testimony as he would stand in front of the media given honor and praise to Jesus after each game. The NFL recently banned Tebow from inscribing the scripture John 3:16 into his eye black and before the biggest game of his professional career, he stepped on the field unable to share his message of salvation when you would look into his eyes.
John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” THIS is the very essence of why we love a God who cared so much about us that he would send his Son as a sacrifice for our sins so we would not plunge into an eternity without HIM.
So, without the eye black and without the inscription, how did Tim Tebow perform? Let’s just say the Broncos won the game in overtime led by Tebow. He still stood in front of the media and thanked his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to let the world know that Tim wasn’t alone! Here are his final numbers: He passed for 316 yards! He set two NFL records, one being the NFL playoff record with 31.6 yards per completion. Just to prove that this is a game of numbers, am I right?
