Cyril Guérette is Senior Pastor of FreeChurch Toronto and Associate Professor of Philosophy and Theology at Heritage Baptist College. He has been married to his wonderful wife Maegan since May 2003, and has three amazing children: Dominic, Justus, and Selah. He has served as a pastor and board member of FreeChurch since Jan. 2006 and as a member of the Heritage faculty since Sept. 2003. He is ordained through the Canadian Fellowship of Churches and Ministers. After receiving his Master of Philosophy in Theology at the University of Cambridge, he is currently completing his Ph.D at Toronto School of Theology, focusing on the Poetic/Dialectic nature of St. Anselm's writing.
Rev. Guérette has considerable media experience, appearing several times in the Toronto Star, the Toronto Sun, many radio stations, and numerous times on television including 100 Huntley St., 360Vision, and the Rogers Waterloo Region news program. He is also a published writer with articles in various magazines and journals, including a chapter in the forthcoming book Letters to a Future Church (IVP 2012).
As a speaker, he has presented papers to the American Academy of Religion, the Canadian Society of Aesthetics, and various addresses to churches, organizations and conferences. He is also part of the Lead Team for the Fluid Movement which concentrates on creating conferences and reference materials for Young Adults.
In his spare time Cyril founded the independent record label Prophetic Poetic, as he has been performing and recording conscious hiphop music internationally for over a decade. His solo music has been critically well-received, being nominated for a Canadian Gospel Music Award, charting on several college radio stations across Canada, and working with numerous fellow artists including Juno-winner Shad, The Runaway, Delegates of Culture and many others.
